About The Piano Lab

The Piano Lab has been offering piano lessons to the Utica area since 1985 and is dedicated to offering quality music programs for all ages. Through the years, we have continued to expand our program to include private lessons in piano, keyboard, voice, guitar, and dulcimer (an instrument with a lovely harp-like sound). Parents are strongly encouraged to introduce music into the home, without pressuring children to perform or develop in a particular way. Music is, after all, a gift that allows us to lose ourselves in the moment. We suggest that parents play different types of music at home or in the car to introduce children to various styles, such as classical, jazz, or folk.

We have several convenient locations throughout the Utica-Rome area.

The staff consists of professional instructors as well as college and student teachers. All of our professional instructors gently guide children through classes that are geared towards discovery and individual development. We also have a certified Suzuki Piano Teacher on staff.

One of our most popular programs is Kindermusik, designed for ages newborn through 7 years old, with a heavy emphasis on music as a form of self expression.

Our studio has achieved Maestro status for Kindermusik as being recognized in the top 5% of largest programs worldwide.

Recitals are held three times each year, as well as numerous performing opportunities through community events and nursing homes. Students may also participate in the National Piano Playing Auditions, sponsored by The National Guild of Piano Teachers. Summer study is encouraged and lessons are offered weekly.
